Bookie Privacy Policy

Effective October 6, 2026

Bookie is an audiobook player provided by Aberdeen Apps. This policy explains how the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch apps handle information, and how to contact us.

Your library stays yours

Bookie stores imported audio, artwork, book metadata, series, listening positions, bookmarks, journal entries, listening statistics, and preferences on your device. It uses this information to organize your library and provide playback, progress tracking, and related features.

Bookie does not require a separate developer account. The app does not include advertising, third-party analytics, or cross-app tracking. We do not sell your personal information or operate a server that receives your audiobook library.

Optional iCloud sync

When iCloud sync is enabled and available, Bookie uses Apple’s iCloud services to synchronize audio files, artwork, library information, listening progress, bookmarks, journal entries, and listening statistics between devices using your Apple Account. Sync is enabled by default and can be turned off in Settings.

We do not have access to your private iCloud library. Apple processes iCloud information under its privacy policy. Turning sync off stops further Bookie sync but does not automatically delete information already in iCloud. Apple’s device backups are separate from Bookie’s sync setting.

Apple Watch, CarPlay, and playback controls

Bookie uses Apple’s system services for audio playback, lock-screen controls, and CarPlay. The Apple Watch companion exchanges playback commands and library and playback information with your paired iPhone, including book titles, authors, chapters, and listening positions. These features do not send your library to a developer-operated service.

Your controls and deletion

You can edit or delete books, bookmarks, and journal entries in Bookie, reset a book’s progress, and disable iCloud sync in Settings. Removing a download deletes the local audio copy, not the book’s library entry or its cloud copy. Deleting a book is a separate action and can synchronize to your other devices.

Settings also provides an option to erase Bookie data. Cloud changes require the relevant Apple services to be available and may take time to reach other devices. Original files outside Bookie and Apple-managed backups are not removed by these actions. Uninstalling Bookie alone does not necessarily remove its iCloud data.

Diagnostics and support

Bookie may write operational messages and errors to Apple’s device logging system. Apple may process crash or diagnostic reports according to your device settings and its policies. Bookie does not send analytics to a separate developer analytics service.

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever information you choose to provide. We use this to respond to your request and resolve issues, and retain correspondence only as needed for support, security, or legal obligations. Email is handled through Apple’s iCloud Mail services. Please avoid sending passwords, credentials, or audiobook files.

Children and policy updates

Bookie is not designed to collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through support, please contact us. We may update this policy as Bookie changes; the effective date above identifies the current version.
